About Light Living
Deanna created Light Living in 2009 to be a vehicle for natural wellness and transformation, focusing on the areas fundamental to life: food, water and shelter.
The Mission
Light Living inspires and assists busy people to a greater level of vitality, energy and peace by focusing on organic living foods and healthier living spaces.
The Philosophy
Light Living is committed to becoming evermore environmentally responsible and balanced. This means:
- composting food scraps from the test/home kitchen, live food events, and encouraging others to do the same
- using “real” plates and cutlery at events whenever possible
- using easily biodegradable plates, cutlery and packaging when disposables are legally required or the only real option
- working towards a “virtual” and paperless office environment (slowly but surely!)
- recognizing that ideally “reuse” comes before “recycle”
- sourcing second-hand office furniture, clothing and equipment whenever possible
- using/consuming and promoting certified organic foods and products
Light Living is committed to fostering relationships and working with others who share this passion for environmental stewardship. This means:
- sourcing, using and promoting local organic food suppliers
- partnering with such businesses as The Better Good and Escape Sports to raise awareness of live vegan options to traditional fare
- using a web hosting service that is powered 100% with certified 100% renewable energy sources, such as wind- and solar-powered energy (thank you HostPapa.ca!)
Recognition
Light Living is very pleased to receive the Bronze Award of the 2009 Venture Forward Business Plan Competition. Many thanks to Liberty Land Corporation for sponsoring this prize package.
Light Living is also very pleased to receive the Best Booth in Trade Show Award during the 2009 Venture Forward Business Plan Competition. Many thanks to the award’s sponsor, Handy Group of Companies. The apple cookies and lemon macaroons were huge hits – one entrepreneur tasted a macaroon, rolled his eyes in splendor, then proceeded to try to buy the recipe! (No dice.)
